3D Matter is releasing the first version of their online optimization software OptiMatter. It is a forecasting model that will help users choose the best materials and the best printing parameters for their applications. It provides a wide range of data on materials, technologies and parameters and calculates the best printing configuration based on the user’s requirements.

A unique testing procedure
3D printed parts’ properties are currently not well understood because traditional testing methods cannot be directly applied to the 3D printing process. 3D Matter has developed a unique testing procedure that enables a full characterization of 3D printed materials. It has been developed and refined over time by conducting the studies you can find on our website, such as “What is the best flexible filament?” or “Are ‘improved’ filaments really better?”. With this procedure, we have built an extensive database and a forecasting model that automates the optimization process.
Data you can trust
The extensive data in OptiMatter is divided into three categories: material performance, visual quality and processability. All of the data has been measured and developed internally by 3D Matter, so you can be sure it is independent and unbiased.
Better design, better printing process
OptiMatter will dramatically improve both the design process and the 3D printing process:
- Plan your design with material properties in mind
- Choose the right material for your application
- Get the best suppliers for your needs
- Find out the optimal printing parameters
This first version is principally destined to 3D printing users with an engineering background, because the data provided is quite raw. Future versions will have a simplified mode so that any 3D printing user can fully benefit from it.
